Max B,, real name Charly Wingate has just been found guilty on 9 out of 11 counts in his ongoing murder trial. Max is scheduled to be sentenced in Bergen County on July 11, 2009, where he is facing up to 20 years in prison. Today after the jury deliberation Max was taken directly into custody .
According to the authorities, Max's ex, Gina Conway, was recruited by Max in 2006 to rob two men in a Fort Lee, NJ, Holiday Inn. Max then recruited cohort, Kelvin Leerdam, to assist Conway in the robbery of the men, who were known for driving " flashy cars" and carrying "a lot of cash."
On Sept. 22, Leerdam and Conway ambushed the victims in their room, restraining Allan "Jay" Plowden with duct tape, while awaiting the return of his partner, David Taylor, who was alleged to have $30,000 in his possession. When Taylor arrived, he was immediately shot in the head, execution-style.
After the would-be robbers fled, Plowden was able to alert the front desk that there had been a murder in the hotel. He was then apprehended by police, attempting to take the $30,000 out of the hotel room, where it had been hidden the entire time. Plowden was charged with money laundering and identity theft. One week later Conway, Leerdam and Max B were apprehended and charged with the robbery.
